RAWR!
When GL wants to converse, but doesn't know what to say, he often lapses into movie scripts. If it's a movie we've both seen, he knows what to say, and knows what I'll answer, which he finds reassuring. One of his favorites is from Toy Story. He always initiates with Rex's line, and I respond with Woody's:
Rex: "RAWR!!"
Woody: "Oh, how ya doin', Rex?"
Rex: "Were you scared? Tell me honestly."
Woody: "I was close to being scared that time."
Rex: "Oh, I'm going for fearsome here, but I just don't feel it! I think I'm just coming off as annoying."
But if he just wants a quick call and response, he shortens it:
Rex: "RAWR!! Were you scared?"
Woody: "I was close to being scared that time."
He often tries to start conversations this way with people who don't know or don't recognize the script. So when we saw the following T-shirt, we immediately thought of him:
Rex: "RAWR!!"

That is awesome. Billy does exactly the same thing. I think the question-answer thing is easier for him when he already knows exactly what's supposed to be said. (Questions are still really hard for him.)
I *wish* he would get on a Toy Story kick. Unfortunately, we're back in the season of Charlie Brown specials. Sigh. Any time he asks, "What are you doing?" we had BETTER answer, "Writing to the Great Pumpkin." Or he's done with us.
We had to hide Monsters, Inc., and flood GL's memory with other movies. He prefers Disney, and especially Pixar, which are usually okay. He just wouldn't stop repeating The Scream Extractor scene in public, and just didn't get that parts of it were inappropriate in certain contexts. Especially since he mumbles, and recites it to younger kids. All their parents heard was him saying "cretin" to their kid, and then teaching them to pronounce it properly.
Disney/Pixar are huge hits with my son too, though he isn't verbal enough to script yet but I can see the beginnings of it. That t-shirt is fabulous, made for your boy, great find:) Jen
