The Bear Family Enters the 21st Century

After years of dialup, we finally got cable Internet! The basic, slowest kind, but it's way faster than dialup, and it doesn't tie up the phone line. YouTube videos work, though not especially well, (they tend to pause for buffering unless on the lowest resolution) but videos on dialup were impossible. I don't plan on watching many videos, but streaming audio works fine, downloads are faster, and pages that downloaded slowly because they were graphically intensive are right there. Pages that load slowly because they are on a slow server are still slow, but now I can tell the difference.

Ain't it grand! We did this about 3 years ago - pay more than the going rate for extra slow high speed ... but sure beats dial-up. With the added bonus that all of us can be online doing work / school at the same time without tying up the telephone. Recently, our service doubled everyone's speed - so watching youtube at 360 whatevers is doable - still low quality - still buffers - but great for extra math/history/science fun during school hours.

Have fun with it!!!

Congrats! After you have it for awhile, you'll wonder how you ever made do without it. ;)

It sure beats the frustration of that long wait to watch or listen to anything!
